Program Leader Machine Upscaling

As our new Program Leader Machine Concepts, you and your team should develop machine concepts for roll-to-roll thin film PV factories on the 1+ GWp/yr scale. The base for the development is our current roll-to-roll thin film PV factory in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The machine concepts will be developed in close collaboration with various equipment suppliers, who will be responsible for the actual design. The responsibilities will be to demonstrate the feasibility of the technology concepts on current existing tools both internally and externally as well as supporting modelling to come to a complete set of specifications as well as updated CAPEX costs for every machine concept.

HyET Solar Netherlands is a leading SME in the field of flexible thin film photovoltaic (PV) modules and is founded in 2012. HyET Solar Netherlands has introduced the first commercially viable thin film solar foil (Powerfoil) and has customers all around the world. HyET enters into partnerships with key stakeholders to develop products with a focus on application. Our staged approach delivers a clear view of options and results in products that satisfy customer requirements. HyET’s headquarters are located in Arnhem, the Netherlands and is run by an experienced interdisciplinary team.

HyET Solar has concluded successfully its recent capital raise and is expanding its production capacity in the Netherlands to 300 MW. Simultaneously it is preparing its international expansion, in close cooperation with its business partners (a 1 GW factory is in design phase).

 

Role description

As our new Program Leader Machine Concepts, you and your team should develop machine concepts for roll-to-roll thin film PV factories on the 1+ GWp/yr scale. The base for the development is our current roll-to-roll thin film PV factory in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The machine concepts will be developed in close collaboration with various equipment suppliers, who will be responsible for the actual design. The responsibilities will be to  demonstrate the feasibility of the technology concepts on current existing tools both internally and externally as well as supporting modelling to come to a complete set of specifications as well as updated CAPEX costs for every machine concept.

In the developments productivity, uptime, yield, operability as well as safety aspects will be key. The technologies involved are various thin film deposition processes such as atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition, plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition as physical vapor deposition, as well as laser, lamination and wet chemical processes.

This new position has opened due to recent investment, linked to a factory expansion.

 

Working in close contact within our Technology team, your main responsibilities are:

  • Understand the current production tools
  • Set-up joint developments with technology/equipment suppliers
  • Develop beyond state-of-the-art new cost effective machine concepts for the 9 different processes
  • Specify the machines with a keen eye on productivity, maintenance, operability, uptime and safety
  • Intensive collaboration with Performance and Reliability team.

We look for:

  • Mechanical Engineer / Physicist
  • Preferably 5 to 10/10+ years relevant working experience in Machine design, upscaling, high tech industry, PV industry
  • Project management skills
  • Fast learner on complex machines and processes
  • Creative, out of the box thinker, but able to make choices
  • Team builder
  • You already gained first team management experience (> 10)
  • Personality which has a positive/critical mindset and is flexible
  • Strong analytical, communication skills, team focused and pragmatic
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environments
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

 

The Team

The HyET Solar Team is full of innovative, drive colleagues taking pride in our factory and product. The project engineers are the cor in our Factory Expansion team. Together with the project leader and project management support, the project engineers will manage our equipment suppliers and contractors in realisation of the new factory. As part of this team, you will work with other colleagues with a background in production, maintenance and technology.
